Closing the Gap between Education and Poverty for Children in Jamaica

Supporting Global Leaders: Causing to Forget Empowers Communities through the Work of Global Impact Fellow Rev. Stacey Ann Garvey in Jamaica, West Indies

Baltimore, MD – August 9, 2024 – The nonprofit organization, Causing to Forget, reaffirms its commitment to supporting global leaders making a significant impact in their communities. Through its latest initiative, the organization is focusing on closing the educational gap for underprivileged children in Jamaica, West Indies, by empowering its Global Impact Fellow, Rev. Stacey Ann Garvey, in her dedicated work.

Rev. Stacey Ann Garvey, an experienced educator and passionate advocate for youth empowerment, is at the forefront of this mission. Her efforts in Jamaica are aimed at addressing the critical educational needs of children in impoverished communities, ensuring they have access to the resources and support necessary for success.

“Our primary goal at Causing to Forget is to uplift and support global leaders who are driving change in their communities,” said a spokesperson for Causing to Forget. “Rev. Stacey Ann Garvey’s work in Jamaica embodies this mission, and we are honored to stand behind her as she works to improve the lives of these children.”

In response to the recent devastating hurricane that struck Jamaica, Causing to Forget has also launched an urgent drive to collect backpacks, books, and other essential school supplies for the upcoming school year. Many families already struggling with housing, education, and basic necessities have been pushed to the brink by this natural disaster. The storm has left countless children without the basic tools they need to succeed in school, further widening the educational gap.

“The recent hurricane has exacerbated the challenges faced by these communities, particularly in terms of education,” Rev. Garvey noted. “Our goal is to ensure that every child has the resources they need to return to school with confidence, despite the hardships they have endured.”

This initiative is part of Causing to Forget’s broader effort to support their Global Impact Fellows in achieving their goals and making a tangible difference in their communities. The organization is calling on individuals, businesses, and community organizations to donate new or gently used backpacks, books, and school supplies. These items will be distributed directly to children in need, helping them to start the school year on the right foot.

Causing to Forget has been a leader in empowering community change-makers through events, webinars, conferences, retreats, and seminars, both online and in-person. This latest effort to support Rev. Garvey’s work in Jamaica is a testament to their ongoing commitment to global impact.

“We are thrilled to have Rev. Stacey Ann Garvey lead this initiative,” the spokesperson added. “Her experience and dedication to the cause are invaluable, and we are proud to support her as she makes a real difference in the lives of children in Jamaica.”
